v1.7.2 current 2026-11-04
- Plan mode: a donor's money is planned only once. Beside each name you see what other months already expect from him and what is left to plan; an amount over that is held to what is left.
- Plan: Look ahead - pick how many months, and see payment plans and going after month by month with the totals; click either number for the people behind it.
v1.7.1 2026-11-03
- The Admin button in the header is a menu now: Users, Sign-ins, Activity, Audit log, Backups & restore. The rows of plain links on those pages are gone.
v1.7.0 2026-11-03
- Everyone signs in with their own user name and password. The first time, the old shared password opens one page: Create my account - that is the Admin (you). From then on the shared password is retired and you add everyone else on Admin > Users.
- Two kinds of account. Admin: everything, plus Users, Sign-ins, Activity, the audit log, backups and restore. Manager: everything else, in every department. A manager who opens an admin page is turned back.
- Sign-ins (Admin > Sign-ins): every attempt, right or wrong, with who, when and the address it came from.
- Activity (Admin > Activity): every change anyone made - each save, click and upload that went through, with who, when, which page and what was sent (never a password). The old Audit log stays for the big actions, and now says who did them too.
- Your name in the header opens My password; an admin can also reset anyone's, switch an account off (he is out at once) and back on. The last admin can't be switched off or demoted.
- Pages use the whole width of the window instead of a centred column.
v1.6.4 2026-11-03
- Plan: an Exclude button on each payment-plan line - for one that was already collected, or won't come this month - takes it out of the month's numbers altogether (not expected, not collected, nothing toward what you need). It stays on the list greyed, with Include to bring it back.
v1.6.3 2026-11-03
- Buttons look like buttons: every small underlined action in the program (Save, Edit, Retire, Remove, Paid, Select all, the up/down arrows, Undo...) is a small bordered button now, red text for the ones that take something away; Switch department, Home, Admin, the school year and Log out in the header are buttons too.
v1.6.2 2026-11-03
- Plan mode lists only the donors without a payment plan - the payment plans are on the month by themselves.
- A month's numbers: what you need, collected already (the Collected box on each line), still to come, still to find.
v1.6.1 2026-11-03
- Plan, a month's page: the big numbers on top - what you need, what you expect (payment plans + going after), what is still to find, what is checked off. Click a day on the calendar and the same numbers show for that day, and the list narrows to what is due by then.
- Plan mode (the Donors button) is the Collections sheet itself, both blocks, with Go after / Expect / By / Note beside each name; Done takes you back to the month.
v1.6.0 2026-11-03
- Collections has a Plan tab: the next twelve months, each with what the payment plans are set to bring in, what you went after on top, and what you still need.
- A month's page: write what you need; a calendar - click a day and it says how much should be in by then; Donors opens the sheet in plan mode (tick who you will go after, how much and by when, OK); the plan itself is a list with a check-off box per line - every payment plan due that month plus the donors you picked - and a Print button. A check-off is a mark only; balances still change from the QuickBooks check or by hand.
- A donor's page is laid out again: two centered columns - balances and details on the left, follow-up and notes on the right, Paid in full / Retire along the bottom. (It had been squashed to the left once the sheet went full-width.) The sheet's 'Next' column is now called 'Follow up'.
- The Excel export looks like the original sheet: Arial, grey header and sum rows, borders, dollar signs, the side totals. The Upload page has a Download the sheet button too.
v1.5.3 2026-11-03
- Collections looks like the sheet again: cells are plain text, and a click on one turns it into a box (the Last paid cell opens the calendar). Enter or clicking away saves; Esc puts it back.
- Collections uses the whole width of the window, so the sheet fits without scrolling sideways.
- Fixed: deleting an empty Other campaign looked like it did nothing - the Campaigns page was quietly making a new one.
v1.5.2 2026-11-03
- Collections edits in place: every balance, Last paid (click for the calendar), Remarks and the plan's Monthly / Day / Method are boxes on the sheet that save as you leave them; the row, column and grand totals follow at once.
- Campaigns: Delete a campaign with nothing in it; Post campaign lets you pick which column the old one folds into.
- The numbers on top stay everyone's while you use Find.
v1.5.1 2026-11-03
- Collections: a Paid button at the end of every row (and on the donor's page). His balances go to zero, today becomes his last-paid date, a note is kept, and he leaves the sheet - his record stays, retired, under Donors.
v1.5.0 2026-11-03
- New in BMG Ateret Torah: Collections - the collections spreadsheet as a page. One row per donor, a column per campaign with what he still owes, the date he last paid (coloured by how long ago), remarks, and the payment-plan block with monthly amount, day and method. Totals per block and in all, the numbers on top, and an aging strip by last payment.
- Upload: drop the spreadsheet as it is, see what it would change, then Save (Update, or Replace to zero anyone left off it). The Excel button gives the sheet back in the same layout.
- QuickBooks check: upload the balance report; whoever is off it is asked 'paid in full?', a different balance is shown next to the sheet's to set, a name only QuickBooks has can be added, and a name spelled differently can be matched to QuickBooks' spelling. The top of Collections says when the report was last uploaded.
- Each donor has his own page: balances that save as you type, plan details, a follow-up date, and a log of notes.
- Campaigns: Post campaign folds the old campaign into Other and puts the new one on the right; add, rename, reorder, retire.
v1.4.2 2026-11-03
- Teacher is a drop box everywhere - the teachers the department knows, or 'New teacher...' with a box for the name. A teacher given to a test exists from then on, with no students yet. There is no 'none' - a teacher must be picked.
- Scan in: the student picker ends with 'New student...'; choosing it opens the name, class and teacher boxes (hidden otherwise).
v1.4.1 2026-11-03
- The 'No teacher' tile opens now (it led back to the same page).
- Start over: 'Remove everyone' on the Upload a list page empties the student list for a fresh upload (a student with scanned tests stays, retired, so his results keep their name); each student's Edit row has a Remove too.
- A test's teacher can be set on its Setup card.
v1.4.0 2026-11-03
- Students is now by teacher: open the tab, pick a teacher, pick a class, and the class list is there. Choose a test on that page and every student's score shows beside his name (a dash for anyone without one), with the breakdown a click away and an Excel of just that class. The student list has a teacher column now (name, class, teacher); 'Upload a list' is its own button on the Students tab.
- Test maker opens on teachers too: pick the teacher and his tests are listed under his name; a new test is made under the teacher you are on. Results left the Test tab (every-class view still a click from the Results count in Test maker).
- A student added at scan time can be given his teacher there.
v1.3.7 2026-11-02
- Test maker: Points per question + Apply now fills every row's Points box with that number.
v1.3.6 2026-11-02
- Ateret Torah's front page shows two tiles, Test and Students, to match its tabs - and the tab is called Test.
v1.3.4 2026-11-02
- Tests is now one tab with three places inside it - Test maker, Scan in, Results - and Students is its own tab.
- The test page: one Setup card (name, questions, bubbles, points, numbering, extra-bubbles rule) that changes nothing until Apply; the answer key below saves as you go, and changing a row's bubbles updates its letters at once. No greyed-out defaults: a new test's rows start blank, and the sheet can't be printed until every row has its bubbles and its key.
- Every question row has move up / move down / insert after / remove, in any numbering; the numbering follows (a row added under 'My own labels' stays blank until you type it).
- Links no longer underline when you hover - text or icons.
v1.3.3 2026-11-02
- Plainer wording across the program: buttons say what they do in a word or two (Scan, Print, Overwrite, Keep, Discard, Assign, Identify page...) and the explanations that used to sit under every form are cut to what you actually need to know.
- Tests: switching to 'every question has parts' keeps the rows you have - a 48-row test becomes 24 questions x 2, not 96 rows - and every key stays on its row. Set either the questions or the rows; the other follows.
v1.3.2 2026-11-02
- Tests: numbering is one setting for the whole test - Plain (1, 2, 3), Every question has [n] parts (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b...), or I'll type my own labels. With parts, the number of questions means questions, and the rows follow. Your own labels can be edited row by row, with rows added or removed.
v1.3.1 2026-11-02
- Tests: question numbering is yours to set. Give a question parts ('question 3 has 3 parts' makes it 3a, 3b, 3c; everything after keeps its own number) or type any label by hand - what you type prints beside the row on the sheet and shows on review and results. A row can be removed; 'Back to plain numbers' undoes it all.
- Every change on a test's page saves by itself - the answer key, bubbles, points, labels, the rules and the name. No Save button to remember at the bottom; the line at the top says Saved.
v1.3.0 2026-11-02
- Ateret Torah's first tool: test marking by bubble sheet. Tests holds each test's questions, answer key and rules (points per question, and whether extra bubbles make a question wrong) and prints its blank answer sheets - the student writes his name and class in the box at the top.
- Scan in reads a stack of filled sheets; each one shows the name box as written so you pick whose it is (or add a new student on the spot), then a Check screen shows every bubble as read - click to flip, decide the not-sure ones, Approve.
- Results lists every approved sheet with its score (points earned out of possible); click a name for exactly which questions were wrong, with the scanned page. Excel export. Correcting the key or a rule re-scores results already approved.
- Students: the department's own list - upload a CSV or paste names, add, rename, retire.
v1.2.1 2026-11-02
- The choose-a-department screen now actually appears on the live site - 1.2.0 had it only behind a start-up setting Render doesn't use, so the site opened straight into BMG as before.
v1.2.0 2026-11-02
- Departments. The program now opens on a choose-a-department screen. BMG Ateret Torah holds everything that was here before - every record, sheet and backup, untouched. Ateret Torah is a new, separate department, empty until it's told what to hold.
- Each department keeps its own records, scanned pages and backups; nothing in one can be seen from the other. Admin's backup and restore work per department.
- One password opens the whole program; Switch department at the top of every page goes back to the choice. Web addresses now carry the department (/bmg/..., /at/...), so bookmarks keep working and two tabs can be in two departments.
v1.1.60 2026-10-30
- Scan in now lists every page that would not read, from every recent upload, not just the last one - a later upload's problem no longer hides an earlier page. 'Tell it what this page is' is a proper button.
- 'What page is this?' offers every sheet ever printed for the group, not only the last 15 - an older sheet can be picked from the list again.
v1.1.59 2026-10-19
- Moving a talmid to another group now takes an 'as of' date (on his page and on Bulk update) - the first day he counts in the new group. It can be back-dated; a future date is pulled back to today.
- Reports, Totals and Missing place him by where he was on each day: under the old group up to the day before the move, under the new one from it. The other side shows a blank cell that counts nowhere.
- Scanning follows the same rule: a sheet from before a move files under the group he was in on that day, so Reports find it.
v1.1.58 2026-10-19
- Print sheets: Build the PDF no longer stays stuck on 'Building the PDF…' after the file comes down - the button comes back by itself, so the next set can be built without reloading the page.
v1.1.57 2026-10-19
- Review's two choices were worded backwards ('Marked - he was here'). They now say what the sheet means: Filled in = late / absent, Blank = he was there on time. The picture of the row was always right; if a choice was ever made by those words instead of the picture, that mark came out the opposite of what was meant - worth a glance at Reports for days resolved on Review.
v1.1.56 2026-10-19
- Drag and drop: every place a file goes in (Scan in, Upload roster, the imports, Acceptance, Admin restore) is now a drop zone - drop the file on it or click Choose a file.
- Scan in's date box is now called Set date and starts blank, so each sheet is filed under the date printed on it. Set a date only for sheets printed blank, or to file a whole upload under a different date on purpose.
- On Check what it read: 'Filed under the wrong date?' moves everything read from that page to another week or day, corrections included; a day already on file from another sheet is held back for a yes/no first.
- Every newly printed sheet shows its serial in plain print above the QR code. If the QR won't scan, type that code on 'What page is this?' and the page is filed straight away.
- An old sheet now files each boy where he is today - a boy moved to another group, or a shiur rebuilt as a new group, no longer sends the marks to a group that nobody is in any more.
- Upload roster: a group can be deleted for good (roster and printed sheets go with it) - but never one with attendance scanned under it; retire those instead and the history stays.
v1.1.55 2026-09-10
- Tuition no longer asks for or shows grades anywhere - Add talmidim adds in one click, Bulk update sets the full tuition only, the Report and its Excel drop the Grade column.
- Printable tuition contract: open a talmid under Tuition, fill in the new Family card (parent/guardian and mailing address), and click Print contract (full) or Print contract (final). It opens as a PDF on the yeshiva letterhead, worded like the sample contract, with Scholarship worked out on the final version.
- The Reminders tab carries a red count of what's overdue or due this week.
- The group picker on Bulk update and Add talmidim is buttons now instead of checkboxes.
- New Acceptance tab in Tuition for next year's incoming boys: upload the high-school list (or paste names), keep notes on each one, mark him Reviewing / Accepted / Declined, and for an accepted boy click Move into Tuition - he gets next year's contract row right away, so two years run side by side on the Tuition list, and at Roll to next year he shows up under the new Incoming stage to be sent into Year 1.
- The roster CSV template has optional parent and address columns, and a talmid's parent and address show on his profile.
v1.1.54 2026-09-10
- Reports is now Roster, with no filter step: overall numbers, then every group - click a group for its talmid-by-talmid list with each one's marital status and attendance pattern.
- New Export tab: pick a group (or all), married/single, and attendance pattern from dropdowns, then download as Excel or PDF - the file carries the group name and the year.
- Closing a year now freezes that year's roster, so Export can pull last year's roster later even after everyone has moved on.
- Roll to next year no longer shows the decision lists the moment a year is open - just a Roll to next year button; click it to see the lists.
- Upload roster: up/down arrows to reorder rooms and groups, and the paste-a-list box is back inside the Upload dialog (prefilled with the current names) so a bad upload is fixed by deleting a line and saving.
v1.1.53 2026-09-10
- Admin (backups, restore, and the audit log) is now a real link in the header - it was only ever reachable before by typing the address in by hand.
v1.1.52 2026-09-10
- A real button/form-field system, one object with a few variants instead of every button looking the same regardless of what it does: exactly one solid, primary button per screen where there's a single standout action (Sign in, Search, Save roster...), a quiet red danger style for the real destructive actions (Retire, Delete this person, Mark as Left), and everything else plain and bordered.
- Labels above a field read normally now instead of small tracked capitals; the focus ring sits just inside a field's border instead of pushing the layout.
v1.1.51 2026-09-09
- The version number in the header now links here - a plain record of what changed and when, newest first.
v1.1.50 2026-09-09
- Enrollment report now breaks down married/single and attendance pattern (1st seder only, 2nd seder only, both) instead of just a part-time count, with an optional list of every talmid instead of just totals.
- Every talmid can have a phone number - upload it with the roster, see it on his page, edit it right there.
- Reminders: one list instead of three separate Overdue/This week/Later cards - the filter buttons already did that job.
v1.1.49 2026-09-09
- The five stages are now completely locked - no renaming, reordering, or retiring. Only a room's leader, code, and roster are ever edited.
- A stage left over from an earlier mistaken design (an extra one that should have been a plain group) is cleaned up automatically, roster intact.
- "Manage" (which oddly dropped you into the Attendance tab) is gone - each room/group now has an Upload button that opens a popup with leader/code editing, a roster CSV template and upload, and retire - no navigating away.
v1.1.48 2026-09-09
- Upload roster: the five stages are fixed - "+ Add a group" no longer secretly creates a 6th stage. A group is now its own simple thing (leader, code, roster, optional subject), shown separately, never part of the year-to-year cycle.
- Roll to next year became free-choice: pick who, pick which stage to send them to, Go - no more pre-configured moves to set up first.
- Reminders got a real upgrade: a status filter, search, push back a due date, soft delete with undo, and a quick-add box.
v1.1.47 2026-09-09
- The Stages page was rebuilt into "Upload roster" - one page in Enrollment for stages, rooms, and uploading each roster.
v1.1.46 2026-09-09
- A talmid's stage now follows whichever group he's actually in, automatically - it no longer needs to be set separately, which used to let some talmidim silently fall out of the year-end review.
v1.1.45 2026-09-09
- Redesigned a talmid's own page: one info panel up top with everything about him at a glance, adjustment cards below it.
v1.1.44 2026-09-09
- Clarified the talmid page's Stage card - his group and his enrollment stage are shown as the two separate facts they are.
v1.1.43 2026-09-09
- Attendance got a real Dashboard, matching the other departments.
v1.1.42 2026-09-09
- Added a Tuition dashboard - where the current year's negotiations stand.
v1.1.41 2026-09-09
- Added an Outcomes dashboard - rabbis, teachers, institutions, growth over time.
v1.1.40 2026-09-09
- Today became a real dashboard - stat tiles and a month-so-far column, per group.
v1.1.39 2026-09-09
- Learning Abroad split into its own Dashboard, Manage, and Report pages, plus a CSV import and new department icons.
v1.1.38 2026-09-09
- Added Learning Abroad, a 5th department for the boys currently away in Israel.
v1.1.37 2026-09-09
- Group order (set on the Stages page) is now honored on every page that lists groups, not just some of them.
v1.1.36 2026-09-09
- Groups everywhere now sort by his own numbering instead of alphabetically; the current school year shows in the header.
v1.1.35 2026-09-09
- Added academic years, enrollment stages, and Roll to next year - the year-end review for moving talmidim along.
v1.1.34 2026-09-09
- Every control that changes a setting now shows what it's currently set to first.
v1.1.33 2026-09-09
- Fixed: plain links were still showing the browser's default blue/purple instead of the app's own colors.
v1.1.32 2026-09-09
- Fixed: Login and Admin still showed the old bright blue after the redesign.
v1.1.31 2026-09-09
- Restyled the whole app - the "Ledger" look (warm paper, hairline borders, one accent color).
v1.1.30 2026-09-09
- Added the Tuition department.
v1.1.29 2026-09-08
- Fixed: reprinting a sheet after a roster change could corrupt an already-printed sheet.
v1.1.28 2026-09-08
- Outcomes: merge two duplicate people records into one.
v1.1.27 2026-09-08
- Fixed a status-color bug on the live attendance display.
v1.1.26 2026-09-08
- Added Part time status to Enrollment - mark a talmid as coming to only one seder.
v1.1.25 2026-09-08
- Bulk update in Enrollment: mark many talmidim Left, Married, or Single at once, or delete a bad entry.
v1.1.24 2026-09-08
- Fixed the version number itself, which had quietly stopped updating with every ship since the desktop installer (which used to stamp it) was retired.
v1.1.23 2026-09-07 to 2026-09-08
- Moved off the desktop install entirely - hosted on Render now, used from any browser, one shared login.
- Renamed to BMG Ateret Torah, with a new icon.
- Added a backup/restore page in Admin.
- Enrollment hub: link a talmid to his Outcomes record, or mark him as having left Bet Medrash.
- Two ways to mark someone left, plus a name search that finds everyone who ever left.
- Live search suggestions as you type, tolerant of a misspelling.
- Enrollment became a real department: its own nav, marital status, a Reports page.
